Austrian Air Force SAAB J-29F “Flying Barrel”
The Saab 29, affectionately known as the “Flying Barrel”, was Sweden’s second Turbojet after the Saab 21R. The jet was designed and built in the 1950s. The designation J denotes the hunting variant of the Saab 29, (Swedish “Jakt”). 1954/1955 two world records were set with the Saab 29, 500km with 977 km / h and 1000 km at 900.6 km / h.
